What is the purpose of “wet” and “dry” saunas in gyms?

Can you answer smilestoomuch’s question about Saunas?:

I know they can be used for relaxation but do saunas serve any weight loss or fitness purposes and what exactly is the difference between them?

    Saunas Feedback: dry sauna is called far infrared sauna i think. wet is the old fashioned typ good luck

    Saunas Feedback: one is “WET” and the other is DRY” lol……it has to do with the amount of water or steam in the air.

    Saunas Feedback: I think wet sauna’s open your pores and releases sweat, and dry just makes you sweat. They are both supposedly good for you.
